South Carolina has a proud equestrian tradition going back to the beginnings of our nation. Even before the 13 colonies declared their independence from England, South Carolinians took seriously the job of raising the finest horses in the nation – almost as seriously as they took their horse races and fox hunts!

Camden and surrounding Kershaw County is a wonderful place for horse lovers to live.  From the peaceful surroundings of horses grazing in the fields to the exciting world of steeplechase horse racing – we have it all!  Not only do we have the famous Carolina Cup race (held in the spring) and the Colonial Cup race (held in the fall), but equine activities such as horse shows and polo games attract the public year-around.  A favorite pastime of our residents is taking an early morning drive past local horse farms and watching championship race horses train in the early morning light.

Kershaw County has more than just horses – It is an outdoorsman paradise with its fishing, hunting and golfing opportunities.  Camden, as South Carolina’s oldest inland city, played a large part in South Carolina’s and America’s history – and the area is surrounded by historical mansions, monuments and battle sites.  Arts, culture and crafts abound in Camden and Kershaw County, and regularly scheduled events include live theatre, concerts or art exhibits provided by nationally-known performers and artists.

The Affiliated Realtors are men and women who love this area as much as you soon will, and are dedicated to helping you find the perfect home in the middle of South Carolina’s horse country . . .
